Are your commercial posters not really getting the exposure that you want? Did you invest a lot in poster printing only to find out that they are not selling their products or communicating their messages effectively? Well if you are in this situation, you might want to first try to root out your true problems in poster printing. From the design to the poster printer, I will teach you how to review each important aspect of your posters so that you can really target what is wrong with them.

  • Checking the “attraction” factor – First, you should try to check the “attraction” factor of your color posters. This is basically the “eye catching” element of a poster where you should try to see if your design is highly noticeable. Ask yourself if your poster can easily be seen from afar. Try to see if people rushing by can immediately see the poster or if it blends too much in the background to be noticed.
  • Try to do this yourself by actually running past your posters, or having other people pass by and asking them if they notice anything significant. A truly great poster should have the right colors and the right size to be noticed. If you don’t get a quick glance for anyone, then you have work to do with your overall color theme and size choice.

  • Checking the “appeal” factor – Next we have the appeal factor. A poster might be noticeable, but does the headline/title or image appeal to your reader? Does it display a certain emotion or even an important life issue that appeals to readers? It is important that you know what motivates your readers to really focus on something. Do they like seeing beautiful models? Are they concerned with financial security? Do they want love in their life?
  • If what they want or need is not in your posters then you lose that reader appeal factor. So check to see if you really did do your market research and considered the readers into your design. Make sure that you put something that your real target market really wants to see or is concerned about.

  • Checking the “interest” factor – The next level after gaining the appeal of readers for your color posters is the Interest factor. While your message might be appealing, your custom posters should maintain the Interest of the readers so that they will read everything, top to bottom. You should check this by looking at the flow of information in your posters.
  • Is it made up of lots of paragraphs or block text? Is it full of images with little descriptions? Usually it is best to keep your details short, quick and easy to understand in color posters. If your posters are not built like this, you might want to rethink your layout and maybe add in lists or simple lines that explain what your poster is all about. The easier it is to read and understand your posters, the more you can maintain people’s interest. So make sure your format content in a short and concise manner.

  • Checking the “response” factor – Another thing to check is the response factor of your posters. People won’t really respond to your posters if they are not instructed on how to actually do that response. There should always be a call to action element in your poster that tells them where to go, how to buy, or how they can contribute. This must be highly visible and in plain simple words. Does your color poster have this clearly printed? If not, then you should try to integrate this into your improved custom poster design.
  • Checking the “longevity” factor – Lastly, we have the longevity factor. Do your posters still look good after a few days of being deployed? Some badly printed color posters can actually look quite bad after just a day of exposure. This leads to a lacklustre response to your custom posters, leading you to think the design failed. However, the true failure may in fact lie with the poster paper material itself.
  • Try to check if your poster material is indeed tough and can do the job of a poster that needs to be deployed for a good amount of time. See if your posters are thick enough and water resistant enough to do the job you want them to do. If they don’t have the right paper though, then you should try to invest in better and higher quality paper that your color posters no doubt deserve.

So those are the things you might want to check so that you can root out the real problem with your commercial posters. Good Luck!
