He even had to get permission from the city to build the forty foot addition to his home.

You might say that he went through a lot of trouble to relive his days as a slot racer. But the truth is he really never grew out of it. And what is more the man is suffering from a cancerous brain tumor. He uses his hobby to deal with the reality of his physical condition.

He remembers the days of his youth when all he asked for during Christmas and his birthday was more race cars. He still has a vast collection of cars that cannot be found anywhere else. The style of these toy cars are very remarkable. It is no wonder why so many enjoy collecting them and racing them. There is also a way to make them go faster but he does not share his secret with anyone.

He says it is not only great therapy but no one gets hurt. There are no hamstring pulls or pulled groin muscles. Everyone has fun and new men are joining his racing club weekly.

The video games are interactive only to extent that a kid can move his joy stick up and down and around. The slot cars however are something that can be held in the hand. You can see the variety of different cars and learn how to make them go faster. You can maneuver them on the track around the twists and turns to keep them on the track without spinning out of control.

There is a certain skill one has to develop to race slot cars that playing video games simply cannot compare. The slot racing cars were made for children. But now that most children do not care to play games that require upkeep or storage men who grew up playing with them is the primary customer of slot race car sales. And this is too bad. Because if men are playing with them then it means there was something special about slot race cars.

Something that brings back memories of competition and skill; there is always something in every generation of kids that is the memorable game. And perhaps video games of racing cars have replaced the slot cars of yesterday. But for many men and one who has a brain tumor the slot cars cannot be beat.
